The Muse is looking for a top-tier candidate for our Finance and Operations Associate role supporting all groups of the organization. This position will work with the Director of Finance & Operations to manage M&A integrations, budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, variance analysis, and implementation of strategic projects. The right candidate will have a deep passion for our business, an operational mindset, and the ability to think critically and structure new problems. Candidates must be highly analytical and strong and effective communicators.
How you’ll make an impact:
You’ll assist in the successful integration of M&A targets, ensuring that responsible parties deliver on assigned tasks in a timely and accurate manner. You’ll own full project lifecycles from start to finish, including identifying and solving problems. You’ll help coordinate the annual budget and periodic forecast cycles between finance and different functions across the organization. You’ll identify insights and trends to drive decisions including short and long-term growth, operational excellence, and business productivity. You’ll enable sales and marketing teams to forecast, set targets, report on and monitor the success of efforts with customers. You’ll analyze and interpret actual financial performance vs. operating plan. You’ll develop key highlights/KPIs to drive business performance and track growth initiatives. You’ll assist in the development of presentations and analyses for internal management, investors and the Board of Directors. You’ll perform ad hoc analysis for stakeholders and The Muse leadership team.
You have a bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance or related discipline. You have 3-5 years of work experience, including 2 years at an investment bank, management consulting firm or in a finance or strategy function at a high-growth startup. You have strong Excel skills and experience with financial modeling. You have excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written ability to hold self and others accountable to tight deadlines. You are a team player possessing a strong work ethic and drive for results You possess the ability to manage multiple project and priorities on a simultaneous basis.
